St. Louis Training Circle is an MMA Club - not a ClassHere at St. Louis Training Circle we are NOT another martial arts class. While it's true we do instruct the less capable fighters in drills, fight techniques and mechanics - we really do not operate with a classroom format. We are informal and easy going. We aren't for everyone. We understand that some people would rather learn from a recognized black belt and have more structure and order in their fighting classes. Some people crave order and authority, and those people may not feel comfortable in our training environment. We are a fighting gymnasium. We are a place wherein friendly athletes can work on their combative skills in a safe environment. We believe respect is something that can only be given freely. Respect can never be demanded or required - that kind of respect is not true respect. As a result we do not bother with bowing to one another, or enforcing the usage of the title "Sir," "Sensei" or "Guro" amongst classmates. Instead of training in a spirit of respect and loyalty, we prefer to train in a spirit of fun and friendship. When people are having fun training in funcitonal fighting systems then respect and loyalty are sure to be the natural outcome. St. Louis Training Circle is a Mixed Martial Arts gym. We come here to work on the problem areas in our fighting games and to figure out the solutions ourselves. We train a narrow curriculum of fundamentals because we believe it is more important to know a few skills well than it is to know how to perform a multitude of different techniques poorly. Some of the benefits of our structure is that many martial artists from different backgrounds attend our training sessions. We have had black betls in Judo, Jeet Kune Do instructors and athletes, High School wrestlers as well as wrestling coaches, and a whole slew of boxers from various striking backgrounds stop in to work out and share their varied experience and knowledge. This provides for much more diverse training and growth opportunitites than the standard martial arts school with a single static teacher. The end result is that you have MANY DIFFERENT TEACHERS and their experience instead of just one or two teachers. You have a community of friendly athletes to join and enjoy and everyone helps everyone grow stronger, faster and smarter. This is what we mean when we say St. Louis Training Circle is an MMA Club, not an MMA Class. The concept is not for everyone, but we suggest you stop in and give it a try. You might be surprised by how much you learn - and how much fun you have. You're welcome here.
